Me and the family were at excel today, my children were dressed as amy pond, small version, Rory and the 11th Doctor. Me and the wife are seriously thinking about cosplay next convention me as the 8th doctor floppy hair you see, and the wife as one of the vampires of Venice, sorry I can't remember their names.
Today I have now become a convert to the Whovians, after attending conventions for a few years as only "the Driver" and being asked questions by seasoned Whovians I felt a bit of a prat, who was helped by his wife with awkward questions I felt it necessary to learn the creed, lol.
They are such lovely people, non judgemental, all united in having fun!
As a true Scifi man I felt it my duty to have fun with my kids, what a lovely way to enjoy your weekends. I feel a little bit jealous as my childhood was blighted by the dreadful witnesses and my kids have brilliant fun, I am sorry but I will not have my kids have the childhood destroyed by the horrible witnesses.

i've always viewed myself as a member of this cult, never really being involved in doing anything that could help my situation, as a nearly born in jehovahs witness i thought all bad things would be sorted out long before 2012, even after leaving the cult, i must admit that i seem to be very lack luste, am i suffering from post cult fatigue, most things seem to be meh.
i know i should be full of energy since my exit from a destructive cult, but eh!.
how does one get the power to find a way to function properly after a cult!.

Maybe, its just a natural progression after leaving the cult, I have experienced with Ayn Rands thoughts, not very out there in the UK and Spiritulism, who knows where i"ll end up, lol!

The one religion I have ever been or am likely to be involved with had such a detrimental effect in my personal life is the witnesses, and so I believe that some form of spirituality is the way to go, whatever that is!

it struck me, as i guess it has a lot of people, that there are so many threads from both americans and the rest of us that seem to descend into america bashing.
i thought it might be quite nice to have a thread solely (and i mean solely - if this just turns negative i will call foul) on what we think is great about america.
as a brit who has lived and been over a number of times there are many parts about america that i think are great and thought is would be healthy to have a positive thread for a change.. so a starter for ten (with a few gross generalisations thrown in):.

I love the American dream, love Florida for the kids, myself being one of them, lol,and the whole can do attitude, very little negative attitude, beautiful scenery and lovely people.
However I don't think the world policeman does not do you any favours, succesive governments have attacked other countries without thinking about the consequences, our government has always backed you, now we are both hated, a more reasoned approach is now necessary to guide the world forward more of understanding of these other nations who do not share our ideals.
America and the UK need to realise that our way may not be the best way forward and we need a bit more compassion rather than tanks and missiles!
The American dream and ideals are fantastic but need some adjustment so that the rest of the world can benefit.
By the way I do on the whole love the American people, but you just need to chill out a bit, to coin your phrase!
